I'm a college student working toward a major in linguistics. My goal is to teach English to non-native speakers (overseas, please). It has been a huge relief figuring out what I'd love to study most.

I try to be classy but sometimes I'm quite rough.

I'm participating in NaNoWriMo for the 3rd time this year:

I find magic in little things. I like dark things. I have a weird sense of humor.

I don't know how to be "friends" with people because I do not - cannot? - trust.

I'm about as awkward as the word "awkward."

It really grinds my gears when people don't place punctuation marks within quotation marks.

I wish I were more artistic. When artists draw people, they look like people. When I draw people, they look like dead lines on paper.

I know what it's like to go days without sleep.

I prefer reading books over watching movies.
However, I love a good dark comedy or zombie flick.

One of my favorite things to do is watch the stars on a clear night while contemplating existence. I like thinking about how we're all made of star stuff.

If I could meet any three people, living or dead, I would choose Carl Sagan, Jean Paul-Sartre, and Socrates. (Dead people are good company - better stories.)

I know what it's like to go crazy... just a little. The kind of crazy that only the people who care about you can recognize. Subtle, but definitely there.

I was born and raised in South Florida. South Florida is: beaches, Confederate flags, Cuban cuisine, oppressive heat, hurricanes, palm trees, and blindingly bright sun. It is also home. I get to say things like, "I survived the double fury of hurricanes Frances and Jeanne."

For now, I live in Connecticut. I needed a breath of fresh air and so I moved on a whim. I do lots of things on whims. I'm not sure how long I'll be here or where I'll go next.

My blawg is rawther dull. I'd rawther it were droll.

Including myself, people delight, confuse, and disappoint me on a regular basis.

I work at a bank. Can't say I enjoy it.

A woman in her 80s started rambling to me about how girls these days wear almost nothing. She said to me, "You know, I don't think any woman deserves to get raped, but these young girls are asking for it." She went on to say, "You know, God gave men two heads for a reason, and they don't think with the one on their shoulders."

When I grow up, I don't want to be that woman.
